Borno state governor elect offered amnesty to Boko haram

THE governor elect
of Borno State, Alhaji Kashim
Shettima has offered to grant
Amnesty to members of Boko
Haram provided they lay down
their arms and negotiate with
the state government on the
restoration of “peace and unity”
to all parts of the state.
Speaking in his first post-election
interview, the govrnor-elect said:
“ The victory of ANPP at Tuesday’s
polls was not only for me as a
person and candidate of the
party, but to all stakeholders and
opposition parties that fully
participated in the gubernatorial
elections conducted by
Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC).
“The challenging tasks before me
and the entire party machinery of
the ruling and opposition parties
are to first address the insecurity
to lives and property in the state.
Insecurity to lives and property
has threatened the state
government machinery and its
citizens from addressing poverty,
unemployment and the
reactivation of closed down
industries, including the endless
power outages of Power Holding
Company of Nigeria (PHCN).
That could be addressed by
reactivating the Marte Chad Basic
Development Authority power
stations to generate 30
megawatts for Borno state. ”
He said if the Umaru Yar’Adua
administration could address the
problems of militants in the
Niger-Delta oil rich Region, his
own administration would
within the first 100 days in
office, hold discussion with Boko
Haram on granting its members
amnesty.
“As soon as the administration is
inaugurated on May 29, 2011,
we will sit down at a roundtable
with the Boko Haram leaders on
how its members could lay down
their arms and move the state
forward by restoring peace, unity
and the protection of all lives and
property in Borno state, ” he said
The amnesty, according to the
governor elect, would enable the
sect members return home and
live with their family members
and relations and move the state
forward with improved security
to lives and property.

U 're born 2 b success

U are born to b success

U 're born 2 b success

"It's not circumstances or
situation that defines you. But
what you see in them. No one can
define who you are except your
creator for he has created you to
be a success and a blessing."
What is Man? Man is the Image of
God. However Gen.1:26-28 talks
about how God created man. That
he created him in his Image and
Likeness. And put into his care all
other things that was created.
But the kind of problem we have
here today, take place first in the
garden of Eden. Gen.3:4-6
describe how the devil usually
make us to look inferior,as if we
are nothing or we have nothing
at all. How he will make somone
that is brilliant to see himself/
herself as if he/she is a fool.
Someone that is rich to see
himself/herself as if he/she is
poor.
The same thing happen this days,
somone with toyota 2010 model
will see someone else with 2011
model then the battle begin. That
is when he will start thinking of
getting 2011 model as well. From
there you will start to look for all
possible means to get that.
It's not circumstances or situation
that defines you. But what you
see in them. No one can define
who you are except your creator
for he has created you to be a
success and a blessing.
The fact is that God has never
created anyone to be poor. 1
Chro.4:9-10 Jabez was an
honourable man. Despite that his
mother named him Jabez because
she gave birth to him in sorrow.
But what did Jabez do? He prayed
to God "And Jabez called on the
God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou
wouldest bless me indeed, and
enlarge my coast, and that thine
hand might be with me, and that
thou wouldest keep me from evil,
that it may not grieve me! And
God granted him that which he
requested."1 Chro.4:10(KJV).
In Hab.3:17-19 says in whatever
condition or situation he finds
himself he will rejoice. Phil.4:4-7
also said in all things we should
rejoice and let our request be
known to God. That the only
person that can tell you who or
what you are, all you need to do is
to ask him and you will receive.
The difference between
successful person and failure is
insight. Insight: "in" means within
"sight" means vision. When you
alter your thoughts you, you alter
your life. What you see is what
you become.
What God is telling the reader of
my message today is that to be
successful in life you have to see it
right from your heart and know
that you are a success and not
failure "For as he thinketh in his
heart, so is he:"Prov.23:7a(KJV).
Think it,see it. Then is becomes
real to you. Think Positive and see
Positive Results.

outcome of an emergency
meeting at the INEC National
Headquarters to review the
situation which had thrown
the state into tension since
Wednesday.

held in other states on the
same day have been
released.
INEC in a statement at the
end of yesterday ’s meeting
“urges all stakeholders to
ensure the highest level of
integrity and good conduct
in the supplementary
election to allow for smooth
conclusion of the
governorship poll ”.
Chief Rochas of APGA was
leading the pace with about
20,000 as at Wednesday
based on results from other
parts of the state.
The APGA and Ohakim’s PDP
have been trading
accusations over the
stalemate.

the local government areas
when the CPC gubernatorial
candidate Kajuru
momentarily took the lead
following the return of
115,070 votes from Zaria in

Excited supporters of Kajuru
had taken to the streets in

the northern sections of the
country celebrating the
victory of their candidate.

was short lived as Kachia

Nigeria miracle workers

Nigerians are miracle workers.
They have devised ingenious
means of coping with their
miseries. They construct their
own roads, build schools, sink
bore holes, discover the best
power generating machines. So,
whatever the government does
with the commonwealth is not
their business. After all, they have
found a way round their
troubles. What a people; what a
country.
A former civilian governor from
one of the south-south states,
while on the run from the law,
was actually aided by his people
to escape from the country. They
frustrated every attempt by
security personnel to track him
down. These same people were
those whose wealth he had
cornered and used for the good
of himself and family.
Another former state governor
who was recently ousted by the
Appeal Court, took his
impoverished state to the capital
market to take a bond of over
N17bn , about seven months to
the end of his second term in
office. By the time he was
thrown out of office, about 60
per cent of the money had been
spent on ‘developmental
projects’. For his ‘good work’
while in office, a well attended
thanksgiving service was
organised for him in his village
home. Shouts of ‘hallelujah’
echoed, as the drums were rolled
out to welcome back home a
proud son of the soil who has
represented his people well.
Following this same path of
honouring our heroes, a
befitting thanksgiving service
was also recently organised for a
very important politician in a
“ rascally” part of the country,
following his completion of a
two-year jail term for corruption.
Prominent in the crowd of well-
wishers at the service were a
former president, serving
governors, ministers,
ambassadors, among others.
Their mission was simple: to
welcome home a darling son,
leader, father and husband who
had done his people proud.
A while ago, $250,000 cash kept
in the treasury room of the
Nigerian Football Federation
suddenly developed wings.
Almost two years later, nothing
tangible has come of the various
investigative panels set up to
probe the missing money. The
same Nigerian Football
Association was purported to
have paid $250,000 to the
Iranian Football Federation, for
the Super Eagles ’ failure to turn
up for a friendly match with the
Iranian national team. Money, of
course, is not our problem. It has
never been.
We live in a very special country
with very special humans. A
country where people with
questionable records rise to hold
prominent political positions. A
country where a man who was
living on friends yesterday,
suddenly becomes wealthy
overnight after a stint in political
office. A country where people
place curses on their relatives for
coming out poor after holding
political office.
When will Nigerians begin to
make our leaders accountable to
their people? When will Nigerians
ask the kind of questions being
asked in the Maghreb? Until then,
let us continue to enjoy the
enviable record of being the
happiest people on earth.

Imo guber stalemate:inec settles for supplementary poll in 4 LGAs

in the race –incumbent state

Okorocha slightly ahead before
the Returning Officer declared
the poll inconclusive.
A statement from the Secretary of

Kaugama, named the local
governments as Ngor-Okpalla,
Mbaitoli, Oguta and Egbema. It
also added the Orji Ward in
